Mount Druitt

"Not as bad as the stigma attached to it..."

I have owned a business in Mt Druitt for the last 11yrs without issue. Being a trades based business, we deal with all personalities from all walks of life. We opened our business from scratch and have grown into a very reputable business not only in the area, but are recognised statewide and even country wide in our field of expertise.
We also deal with the 'problematic' kids that come from the local schools who wish to undertake work experience in the hope of obtaining an apprenticeship. These local kids that are out 'running a muck' are actually good workers and are very productive when kept busy and it seems to be the kids from the same school that lack the mannerism and education you would expect from an adolescent. The school is not directly in the mt druitt city but rather on the outskirts of the extended suburb. Most of these kids come from single parent families which they cannot be blamed for.
Our customer base comes from both in and out of the area. Our customer base from within the area are actually extremely easy to deal with and have become close aqaintances to us. They never haggle over the price after the job is done like people do from many 'more expensive' areas and are always happy with a good job done. They have a higher expendable income than most would think and it shows by the amount of infrustructure and the amount of money the government is putting into the area. One thing the west has over the city is undeveloped land which most big businesses are taking advantage of. Larger companies are now investing in the area such as Metcash, Arnotts even Sydney International Dragway etc and the new Wet n Wild water park which is due to start construction later this year.
Mt Druitt is in amongst all this which can only mean one thing, house prices to rise....
It may not be the most desireable suburb in Sydney, but chances are,it would make the best investment.

Great for

  • Larger businesses are moving into the area
  • M4 & M7 is within easy access
  • In the middle of 2 major cities Parramatta & Penrith
  • Affordable
  • Cheap
  • Community spirit, public transport

Not great for

  • Houses with a low income appearance
  • Dept of housing (which in time will need to move due to higher demand in Sydney)
  • Police station outdated
  • Still tainted by bad reputation from years ago
  • Teen attitude

Rooty Hill

"Under rated & over acheived"

We bought our first home in Rooty Hill 10yrs ago, not by choice, but that is all we could afford at the time. We did not know anybody in the area so we took our chances and bought our home. The first thing we noticed was how quite and peaceful the area is. There is everything you could need in an area for singles and families alike.
Rooty Hill has ample parks and fields to exhaust the kids and many sporting clubs to keep them busy.
The M7/M4 connection makes travelling to most parts of Sydney (& beyond) relatively easy. Rooty Hill has its own train line with a reasonable public transport facility.
Rooty Hill RSL is one of Sydneys most renown RSL clubs with its own AMF bowling and laser skirmish to its own gym to the soon to be completed Indoor Aquatic and training centre.
This suburb is still very well priced with many young families flocking to the area.
All in all, we are very satisfied...

Great for

  • Peaceful
  • Still affordable
  • Close to everything
  • Parks
  • Public Transport

Not great for

  • Needs more cafe's and nightlife
  • Non Residents will advise you to stay safe from crime for no reason.
  • Some areas present a low income neighbourhood look.
