I read mixed reviews before settling in Ascot Vale, more out of circumstance than anything else. Very glad I settled here. It's safe, close to the city, and close to shopping. Union Rd is a great area. I can be sitting at my desk in the CBD about 20 minutes after walking out my front door. I live relatively close to the council flats and often walk through them and never feel unsafe. It's getting more expensive but there's nowhere in Melbourne with a greater value vs money
