Launceston

"Bijoux city with small town feel"

I love Launceston!
The architecture, the restaurants, the cafes, parks, river, gorge, shops.
The people! So friendly, very welcoming and kind.
If I had to live in a city in Australia this would be the one.
Property is affordable, it is not far from nature. All amenities in good condition. Jobs. Hospital. Public transport.

St Helens

"Friendly Harbour town"

Great hub for Binalong Bay to get food, lunch, bank, fresh seafood, and a great place to live.

New hospital with flying doctor and fly in fly out medical doctors. Library, chemist, internet centre, working fishing harbour.

The Parkside restaurant is excellent. The RSL is good for a meal.

The best areas are Akaroa, Halcyon Grove and Bayvista Rise areas. I personally wouldn't buy on the flat especially near river sides or in the town centre.

St Helens has bowls club, fishing, lots of other clubs too. Needs a swimming pool! A nice walk around the Bay.

The town itself is a little run down with shoddy amenities and loos. Money needs to be spent on these to keep the upmarket targeting of international tourism with bike trails and Binalong bay. (Binalong bay needs a very good deep clean, especially the glass on the beaches and litter from campers).

St Helens main Street needs a clean up too.

Otherwise a lovely location with friendly locals and a very welcoming place to live with a very helpful council who assists every step of the way with planning and building. The local tradesmen are knowledgeable, professional and helpful, be careful of the real estate agents, as always!

Basically a friendly place with lovely nearby beaches and lots to do.

Interesting read especially about the grottiness of the town - surely the council arnt that slack? And the scrupy agents one who gave this town a good review previous comment. They hedge their bets with buyers. Not ethical at all. Beware !

Why the city council not organise an voluntary network including the real state agents to help clean up the beaches n surrounding

Welman Street

"location location location"

A short walk into city centre perched on a hillside with views of city and Tamar river. Aspect - you get the morning sun behind and afternoon sun at front so great to warm you on winter days, westerly facing. Well heeled neighbourhood. Georgian to 1990 properties. Quiet. Highly recommend
Close to public transport, swimming baths, parks..
