Auburn

"Best food in Sydney"

Lived in Auburn for 9 years.
Positives:
Food is amazing here, Asian, Afghan, Turkish, Lebanese, Indian, Thai, Iraqi and persian food and many more, you never go wrong with food here.
15-20min train to city.
25-35min drive to CBD if no Traffic.
10min to Parramata CBD.
Schools and Auburn Hospital good.
Train station and buses good.
Very multicultural suburb (henced it clearly offends some group of reviewers)
Reflects Australian values; Tolerance, Diversity and Acceptance
Zero racism here so if you are ethnic or of non-White Anglo background you won't worry about some racist/bigot harassing you, your kids or family here.
Safe and family oriented suburb.
Affordable/bargain asian and middle Eastern shops for groceries shoppers.
Crime and that is simply a moral panic and stereotype as you will only hear of it in the media, unless you are involved in gangs or drugs the chances of being mugged is as unlikely as anywhere else in Sydney (probably less likely than in the city).

Negatives
Rental/Housing market is becoming too expensive due to the high demand.
Parking availability at the shops is one of the worst here.
Parking even on your own street is hard sometimes due to congestion.
Auburn is becoming too busy of a place so if you want a quieter place you might consider somewhere else.
If you are white anglo Aussie and you are offended by ethnic Australians and people of different faiths, you will not like it here.

Would I live here forever?
I would if I could afford a house of my own but average old house 3 to 4 bedder on 600sqm is no less than 900k+ in Auburn!!

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids

It's just that in this town, some dominant cultures may harbour racist views against others. It's not just white Anglo people that are racist. That's discrimination against a group of people, did you not preview your review?

Auburn is offensive even to those of non-Anglo backgrounds. I grew up in Auburn as an "ethnic" and it has worsened with traffic, over-population, poor developments and a constant influx of people who do not want to integrate.
