Werribee

"Not much opportunities"

Many comments have been made already so I won't repeat them. I live here but planning to move. Not much opportunities here, which results in many bad things happening. Remember the saying, " an idle mind is a devil's workshop".

I think it deserves it's negative reputation. One of them is, the welfare cheat capital , not of Victoria, but of Australia. (Read that from Daily Mail online). Fact: out of $40 M returned to Centrelink by its clients (because of wrongful payment) , around $10 M came from the City of Wyndham, Werribee its more prominent suburb.

The council offices' service is ridiculously slow and as if customer service is an unknown concept to them. (based on my personal experience)

A professional person who worked in a company that did work for the council said that communicating with the Wyndham City Council was a pain, they took forever to answer.

BTW, employees there get good pay considering the kind of job they do. Someone I know worked in the council. He said it's the worst govt organization he had worked for. And that their policies are encouraging dole bludging. The council is so proud of their volunteers , volunteering for the council, however, you see volunteers in their 20s, 30s who have been volunteering for more than a year , some for 5 years. One can understand those in their 40s, 50s who can't get jobs so they have to do volunteer work to get the dole but the council should limit the duration for the young people to do volunteer work, like after one year of experience they should go out to look for a job because being employed is good for their wallet, self esteem, health and as a foundation for their life.
