Waller Street

"Why would you want to live anywhere else!"

Waller Street is the type of street where people still care about each other. You do not just know the neighbours next door, you know pretty much the whole street. Lathlain itself is a FANTASTIC suburb but Waller St is in my opinion the best street in the suburb. The street has many events throughout the year including Football Tipping competition, Melbourne Cup Sweeps, Street Easter Breakfast and egg hunt, Trickle Treat Halloween festivities, Christmas street party and the pinnacle is the month of December when several of the houses light up in Christmas Lights. The biggest display at #26. The month of December is a buzz with Christmas cheer everyone having BBQ's and get togethers enjoying the weather and the street backdrop. If you are the type of person that does not get involved in the social aspect of the neighbourhood that is fine no one is going to live on your doorstep however be assured someone will still be looking out for you, bringing in your bin, collecting your mail on holidays. There is a strong feeling of community and a big mix of people ranging from 80 - 1 It genuinely is the best place we have ever lived and do not plan on moving anytime soon. LOVE Waller Street.

Lathlain

"Love Lathlain"

I can honestly say at this stage of my life with a young family we would not want to live anywhere else. It is like living in a country town however the city towers over the big trees. The suburb is leafy, friendly and has an amazing community spirit. Our street has a Christmas street party every year, Footy Tipping competition, Melbourne Cup Sweeps and is known for being the Christmas lights street in the area. I go jogging around the streets and night time and feel completely safe. We have our own local footy team the mighty Demons that are based at Lathlain Oval and I love hearing the crowd cheering from our house or walking down to see a game. Walking distance to Burswood Casino, and even just a jog into the City. The subdivision laws are different in Lathlain in comparison to surrounding suburbs so there people do not live on top of each other and the roads are wide and clear without having cars parked. Big blocks still exist where having a big backyard for the kids to play is the norm. Walking distance to the many pubs and restaurants in Victoria Park and Carlisle so you can have a drink and simply walk home. What can I say this suburb has it all. I love it, love it, love it. Ask anyone that lives here and they all feel the same.
