Sunshine

"I really like Sunshine!"

Like some of the other reviewers, I was a bit skeptical when my husband suggested we look in Sunshine. But, as we toured around Sunshine I was pleasantly surprised! Well kept tree lined streets, and lots of facilities (shops, medical etc). Sunshine is extremely multicultural, and I love that, if you don't, you won't! I don't actually find the central shopping area seedy at all, but I suppose that's all subjective, I come from a big multicultural city (not in Australia) and I think it has a nice vibe about it!

I haven't seen any anti-social behaviour since I've lived here, and I walk to and from the station everyday and peruse the shops. Of course every area has problems, I think Sunshine has a bit of a litter problem.

Lets be real guys, Melbourne has an extremely low crime rate. It is overall very safe, in all of it's areas, including those with the "worst" reputations. Honestly, I think most of the social problems that exist in Sunshine (as in those other 'reputation' suburbs) likely take place in people's own homes (domestic violence etc), as opposed to against strangers.

We love our little street, we live in a court where most of the residents have lived there for 10+ years and own their homes. They've been really welcoming. I think Sunshine is on the up, with lots of new people moving in and a really friendly vibe about the place. About half of the people I meet on the street say hi, how nice is that!
