Rough but look after their own (and i felt included in that) was my first impression until I was recently assault at the mall by someone clearly psychotic who thought I was someone they knew. On a fine Saturday morning.... My 11yo son saw it all and it was a horrible experience with police etc. Lots of the rough locals came to help us and got rid of the offending woman. All agreed that this was an outlier experience and she wasn't local... but that day walking home I saw 2 other people just raving at the sky on the street. So while the response to this was great and it's probably a rare thing, you only need this to happen to you once to completely feel alienated and unsafe. Maybe this will feel better for me in time but right now I just want to get out of here.
