I like in Mount Druitt and have never had issues with public transport (trains) and I use them everyday to and from work. There has been a strong police presence in the community especially the last few months and nearly everyday they are patrolling the station and constantly around. I have also found them very quick to respond and never had any issues. Please bare in mind there is a large population which is growing of working families in this area and I believe the 'social housing' areas are diminishing as the prices of houses and rent in this geographical area rise. There are always children playing on my street and it is completely safe. Neighbours are all friendly as well. I have never had any issues with this area and definitely would recommend it even with its patent reputation. (Just my opinion from actually living in Mount Druitt).

I don't disagree with all the comments here. The truth of the matter is Mount Druitt sucks. But I learned to love the place. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mount Druitt population has boomed since I moved here in 1998. There's a lot of change that happened since then. Many people from other subburbs do their weekly shopping here because food especially is cheaper. I can call this place multicultural because mostly migrants live here. I wish they did build the housing commission complex here because now so many trouble makers hanging around creating nuisance.
