Tarneit

"Love Tarneit"

We live in the older part of Tarneit (off Tarneit road) adjacent to Hoppers Crossing. Have been here around 18 years. Our kids have grown up, lifestyle is good. There have not been any negatives for us, we moved from south eastern suburbs as property here was more affordable at the time. The new train station is great, gets you to the city in 26 minutes. There has been some recent crime in the community centre but unfortunately these gangs are making their marks across Melbourne. I have never felt unsafe or even worried about walking around, people are friendly and there are so many families around. Tarneit has been designed well with many parks and schools which make it a popular choice for young families. There is so much more now than what there was when we first moved here. It has been great watching this suburb emerge from a country style place to a lively city, the only thing I miss is the peace and quiet. It has changed from quiet to extremely busy with all the shopping centres and the roads are so full, traffic has becoming a daily routine. Generally speaking I think its the people that create this vibrant suburb. We have many new migrants, many young families, some oldies (including myself!). If you are looking for a good suburb in Melbourne where everything is within an arms reach then this is a good choice. Hopefully with the increased population the infrastructure will improve. Love Tarneit but miss the peace and quiet!
