I am quite surprised with some of these reviews. Yes unfortunately the crime rate has increased in Melbourne but this is everywhere, not just Tarneit. Older parts of Tarneit with less rental properties have no issues with crime, they are well designed for families and neighbors are friendly, crime rate is low compared to other suburbs. Look up Victorian statistics, crime rates were worst in the inner city and in some regional cities.
In Tarneit we are lucky enough to have it all, schools nearby, shopping centres, walking tracks, great access to city via fast v-line train. Been here 5 years and we love it!
