Ipswich

"Horrible City"

Unsafe city. Never felt safe living here, due to drug users and abusive people. Ipswich’s greatest industry is Centrelink. A city that has zero pride in itself, if you doubt that statement just take a drive or a walk (if you feel like living dangerously) around the CBD.

Thats very exaggerated. Some suburbs are better than others obviously. Ive never been hassled in the 7 years I have lived here yet every time I go into Brisbane City I get hassled. Go figure! In saying that if I didnt like Chuwar and my house then I wouldnt stay here.

This comment is just blatent lies and fear mongering. Of course some areas are worse than others but the majority of suburbs are lovely and quiet.

I completely agree, never felt more unsafe in my life.. dodgy neighbours who watch your every move as you come and go from work.. was waiting for the day I would come home to find my house robbed. Moved as soon as I could. Called police on 2 sets of my neighbours and was threatened by one neighbour when I asked if he could close his windows when yelling abuse at his wife. Im a female, was scared.

I have lived and worked in Ipswich the last 15 years and love it. Never encountered a problem. Had more problems with crime in Hawthorne in Brisbane where I used to live than here. Far less crowded and traffic, but with great amenities. People are salt of the earth in general . Unfortunately you can find bad neighbours anywhere. My kids went to great schools here.

One Mile

"ugly Ipswich suburb inhabited by the hairy unwashed"

Lived here from 2008 -2011 and then rented out our house from 2011 - 2017. Would not recommend living here. On a weekly basis there were fights in the streets, people chasing people with metal bars abusing each other. Junk left in front yards and on the footpaths and the council do nothing. There is very little pride taken in property. Renting and selling our house was a nightmare as well. Tenants were terrible and intentionally motor oil over new carpet and did not pay rent for months. 0/10. Stay away if you have any pride in yourself and your family.

Im sorry you had that experience. I live in what was considered the worst street in One Mile. Everything I heard and had read and, frankly, feared did not come to pass. We installed security cameras etc and have never had an intruder of any kind on our property and have seen no disturbances to speak of in the five years Ive lived here. Our house prices have doubled and yet so remain comparatively affordable so its hardly good advice not to buy these days. Things change.
