Darra

"Wish I could stay forever"

I have lived in Darra for over 20 years. It a wonderful place to live, raise a family and invest. The local schools give you two fantastic options, most people live within a kilometer to the train station that runs express trains to the city during peak times. I have exercised at all hours as I used to do shiftwork and have never been harassed. The food options are fantastic, between your number of Asian choices and the excellent Hotel Monier on Monier Rd. Also on Monier Rd you have two great breakfast options, monier coffee and sol bakery. The Woolworths is definitely the friendliest Woolworths I've ever shopped in. It's a convenient size too. I recently moved out of Darra but still travel back to shop at Woolworths. Both parks have recently been done up by council. Ducie street park has a huge playground with bbq and toilet facilities. As it's off the main drag its definitely a safer park option than those in neighboring suburbs. Ducie street park also has an off leash dog area. If you after a smaller park than head to balfour park. If you are a clever chook, with spare cash I strongly recommend that you buy yourself a subdividable block, thats what I recently did and it was definitely a smart decision. Don't believe past rumors, of crime, in the more than 20 years I've lived in Darra, not once have I seen any crime. Crime is everywhere if you go looking for it. We had fabulous neighbors and honestly if we hadn't subdivided, I'd still live there. You often find that many residents are long time residens. My mother and sister will never move, due to the sheer convenience. Train to the city, bus services to inala and Mt Ommaney. Indooroopilly in under 15 minutes down the western freeway, Springfield is accessible via train or the centenary highway. Everything is on your doorstep, Darra is truly a great place to live. I will definitely be trying to get myself back their eventually, but we've decided to try rural life for now. But when convenience comes calling, it's Darra I'll go looking in.
