Best areas to live around Wollongong.

We are looking to move with our 2 young children 1 & 3 yrs old, to Wollongong area. Somewhere close (walking distance) to a beach would be amazing but really just looking for the suburbs that locals recommend any why. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Suburbs such as Towradgi, East Corrimal, Woonona, Bulli will give you good access to beaches but options may depend on your price point and affordability. The closer you get to the beach, the more expensive homes become.
Inner suburbs such as Figtree, Keiraville, Gwynneville, Fairy Meadow and Balgownie are all safe family friendly suburbs within 5-10mins of Wollongong CBD and all within 5-10mins of a beach. Because of the large number of beaches along the Wollongong coastline, it is easy to reach any beach with a short drive, bike ride or even walk.

Certainly Shell Cove if you want walking/cycling distance to a beach! And the local primary school is excellent.

Primbee is lovely. Situated beside the lake and the ocean, close to 2 major shopping centres, 10 minutes south of Wollongong and 10 minutes north of Shellharbour. Still able to purchase 1/2 blocks backing onto the lake. This suburb will boom soon when people realise what a great little hidden gem it is.
