Each real estate agency have different applications however typically you need two pay slips, 100 points of ID and references. The application typically asks for your last two addresses and workplace details, details of cars and pets. Sometimes you need your most current rent payment ledger.

Thanks for your reply Jessicab22. My family and I will be migrating from Malta so I might not have any Aussie payslips to show and probably I will not have a fixed job by then. We currently have our own place back home so the rent payment ledger will also be a no go for us. Will this make the rental process any harder you think? I have an Aussie passport as well, will that help? cheers

They would probably want to see proof of some sort of income, so perhaps a letter from your new employer or a bank statement showing you can afford rent would hopefully suffice. Recommend having a chat to an agent in person so they understand your situation and can explain your application if the owner is dubious as they will have final say to approve your application. Aussie passport will be fine for ID. Not sure whether the agency will have trouble checking your records if they are overseas and if this will cause a problem. You could always email a real estate in the area you are looking at and ask them ! There are usually a Ray White Real estate or LJ Hooker in most suburbs and they should help. Good luck !
