Forster

"Forster - ideal to retire or holiday."

Forster is in the Great lakes area on the North coast of NSW just 3 hours from Sydney. Forster has great water sports and activities including some great fishing. There is also horse riding, golf, plenty of walking opportunities and 4wd experiences. For the more adventurous you can try sky diving, white water kayaking or mountain biking. Stay at the local caravan park, B & B’s with great facilities, motel and hotels or luxury resort style accommodation. There are plenty of places to eat from restaurants to cafes and takeaway outlets. You can sample some fine wines at local wineries or visit the art and craft shops, museums and art galleries. Forster is a great holiday destination or a place to retire with all facilities handy.

Like to know where the museums and art galleries are ?

smilingjack

3 hours from sydney? really - how? Its a minimum 4 and a half hours if you dont encounter traffic which is very unlikely. fine wine? luxury resort style accomodation? I think people from Forster have a different idea about what luxury accomodation and fine wine are then the rest of the civilised world.

forstercrusader

smiling jack on his bi-polar quest to under mind forster, 4 and a half hour drive? you must be old, i dont know anyone except for the L plater who could possible drive that slow. i do it in 3.5 hrs and google does it to the beautiful bridge in 3hr 50mins.
all the best with your fine dinning, we learnt to cook at home up here!

country lifestyle, we love it!

Damo71

smiling jack mate I live in Sydneys south west (Liverpool region) 3 hours and 45 minutes door to door and i do it once a fortnight as my parents live up there. Forster is a growing town slowly but surely growing gee I remember when it did not have a McDonalds and the likes. In regards to hitting traffic pick the times you leave oh and by the way the road you should be using to get there is the F3 not the Old Pacific Hwy, you probably think it still takes 4 hours to Canberra as well. On a final note it being a christian community so what pretty smart hey keeping the other idiots out, look at the demise of Sydney because they lost those values. So the short of it is this if you do not like it there DONT GO THERE do the people of Forster and yourself a favour.

smilingjack

damo and forstercruader.
up at 5am for a 3 hours and 45 minute drive to enjoy "dinning" at mcdonalds. La dolce vita! this page is about real estate. forster real estate has dropped dramatically and will continue to do so. it has the largest old and very old, poor, uneducated and unemployed population in australia. thats the undisputable facts.
the council charges the highest rates in the region whilst simultaneously cutting infrastructure work and still managed to lose $3 million of rate payers money last month alone. A trend that will continue for a long time to come. its councillors and management, like the town itself are on life support. old tired with no ideas and mostly, like the rest of the population only have a basic education.
http://www.greatlakes.nsw.gov.au/Your_Council/Council_and_Councillors
anyone buying any property in Forster will be losing money and quickly.
By all means if you want to be in a community of very old, poor, simple folk paying huge rates to a dieing council with crumbling infrastructure then Forster is the place for you

skyen1

Smiling Jack - I suggest you learn to spell properly before calling others "simple"! Dinning? Dieing? I think you are the pot calling the kettle black here mate.

Forster's has been ranked above average violence rate. Considering the high elderly population that stat is more alarming as it would not be the elderly per se. Drug and social problems that all need healing. Those unaware haven't got a real feel for the community.

"Toronto - Relaxation or plenty of action."

Aside from it's proximity to Lake Macquarie, Toronto has very little going for it. Apart from a couple of bogan filled clubs there is a total absence of entertainment venues, the 'restaurants' are almost all of the 'chips with everything' variety and the main street consists of little more than a line of charity shops and employment agencies, due to almost all of the decent stores having left town years ago.

The nearest public hospital is a forty minute drive away ( on a quiet day ) and it's almost impossible to register with a local doctor as they have all closed their books to new patients. The unemployment in the area is chronic with no local employment apart from the local council, stacking shelves in the supermarket or working the night shift at the local gas station. As a result, 65% of the local population is in receipt of some type of welfare benefit with large swathes of the local area being given over to public housing to accommodate them. On a more positive note, the town does have it's own Centrelink office, Courthouse and police station, all of which are utilised to the full.

If you are an unemployed flannelette shirt wearing bogan with a ZZ Top beard and a penchant for foul language and tobacco products, then "Tronno" is the place for you. Otherwise I believe that prospective purchasers will be more than a little disappointed with the area.

I'm not from the area, but am interested in heading that direction as I need to be close to the train line that runs into Sydney. Is the area filled with housing commission? I just want to avoid that crap completely.

"Moore Park - Excellent sporting venues with everything close by."

Moore Park is bordered by several suburbs of eastern Sydney and had plenty to offer the local or the visitor. The area combines three different parks being Moore Park, Queens Park and Centennial Park. The area has many top sporting venues and there is normally always some sport being played on the many different fields in the park proper such as touch football, netball, cricket etc. Moore Park is also home to Aussie Stadium, the Sydney Cricket Ground and Moore Park Golf Course. Around the area there are many other sporting venues. Once the Royal Sydney Show Ground this large area is now home to Fox Studios and once inside the old sandstone and brick walls it is like a small city with not only the studios but shops, cafes etc. The suburbs around Moore Park offer good accommodation and are close to the city, beaches and entertainment.
