Ocean Street

"Its About The View"

With views west across the mouth of the Macleay River, this is a very desirable address in South West Rocks. The homes vary between pole type constructions (on the downhill slope), to McMansion type two story brick, charmless, biggest house you can get on the block, type buidings. However in recent years some magnificent homes have been built to take advantage of the views and to catch breezes. The homes on the crest of the hill are also rewarded with views of the South West Rocks waterfront village and the ocean beyond.

Gordon Young Drive

"Macleay River Bound"

This long, straight street carries drivers and walkers from the main town road, Gregory Street, through to the residential area known as "New Entrance". The street is well maintained, and low cost housing has been built in sections. Much traffic here is headed to the very large caravan and camping area that is bounded on one side by Gordon Young Drive, and on the other by the "Back Creek". It is the main access road to the popular fishing wall of the Macleay River.

Russell Street

"Small acreage blocks"

Russell Street leads from Phillip Drive and eventually becomes Arakoon Road which completes an inland loop before meeting up with the South West Rocks Road, the main route into South West Rocks. There aren't a lot of homes in Russell Street, as much of the surrounding land is bushland. Those that are however, are situated on small acreage blocks, with plenty of room to move and enjoy a quiet lifestyle, many are large, with pools.

Gladstone Street

"A Rainforest Theme"

Gladstone Street is a very short street, with just a handfull of homes on it. It leads from the higher traffic area around Trial Bay Gaol, to the road less travelled to Little Bay. It is a little pocket of rainforest on the journey and the homes have been designed to embrace this theme. Some have even built decks around tree trucks! Banana trees, and palms, tree ferns and birdsnest ferns all add to the atmosphere.

Carri Street

"To Little Bay"

There are no residences in Carrie Street, but it carries a modest amount of traffic anyway - to Little Bay. Many visitors walk from Little Bay to Trial Bay Gaol and back, using the carparks at both locations. Whale watching is a keen pursuit. The road is sealed and well maintained, and once at Little Bay visitors will find picnic facilities, rest rooms and large grassed areas. Great for family gatherings, but be warned - Little Bay is trecherous, especially at low tide, and is known for having very serious rips.

Francis Diamond St

"In The Bush"

One of the few residential streets that make up the hamlet of Arakoon, Frances Diamond Street has modest homes, several of which could be described as 'beach shacks'. The gardens are basic, but well kept, and the homes on the eastern side of the street back on to Arakoon State Conservation Area, which in turn leads to the ocean front.

Trial Bay Gaol Access Road

"Throw Away The Key!"

Now an historical site, Trial Bay Gaol receives thousands of visitors every year, and drivers need to use this road to access the entry. A sealed road that loops around the entrance, it is well maintained - no residences here. In holiday times it can be a bit busy in the Gaol carpark, as visitors linger to take in the views across the ocean to the north and Coffs Harbour.

Cardwell Street

"From the Hill to the Gaol"

The homes at the top of Cardwell Street command unbelievable views of the Pacific Ocean north towards Coffs Harbour, including Trial Bay Gaol, Arakoon and South West Rocks in the foreground. The homes have been designed to capture the best views. Only drawback is that it is quite a steep hill, certainly not walkable from the beach on a hot summers day.

On its lower areas it runs through beachfront reserve before it meets the Trial Bay Gaol Access Road.
