Ridleyton

"Ridleyton. Home to South Australia's Well Kept Secrets!"

Ridleyton is a north western suburb, with well landscape gardens and lots of quallity homes.

If you are looking for a good night life, everything is close by. 8 minutes to the city, the Brompton Pub, and among others.

There is some lovely parks in the area, which have been looked after very well.

So this is a suburb to look out for.

Kilburn

"Nothing is good to say for Kilburn..."

The good points of Kilburn is:
1. There are lots of parks to be used, but are very, very dangerous at night.
2. Close to the city.
3. Public Transport is non stop.
4. The Cost of Living here is cheap, that's why there are lots of house trusting homes.
5. Convenience to everything.

The very bad points are:
1. Its not peacefull, you will hear a lot of hoons doing doughnuts for 2 mins (roads are messy due to skids)
2. It is incredibly not safe. Don't even think about the nightlife here in Kilburn, OHHH the night life (which I mean terrible, because I've got all this information from my friend)
3. Hoons. Hoons are NON-STOP at night. My friend told me it can go up to 7 hours straight.
4. JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Well, what can I say. Kilburn is one of the roughest suburbs in Adelaide! So if you would love to listen to hoons all hours of the night, drunks, and so on, then move to sunny Kilburn. NOT!

Great for

  • Convenience to everything

Not great for

  • Burn outs and hoons
  • Incredibly full of crime
  • Drunken drivers
  • Housing Trust in Kilburn North soon to be demolished

Who lives here?

  • LGBT+
  • Hipsters

Have a look at this website : http://www.ocsar.sa.gov.au/CM_Enter.html . You will find out that crimes are high for such a small suburb. The website is one of the government websites.

No! I said thanks to Sa8522 because, he/she wanted to show me something on a website! I'm not negative. You just don't know, that's all

And FYI, yes, my friend DOES live in Kilburn, so, someone that I know who lives in Kilburn has gotta give me this information!!

CassM

North, your ignorance is astounding. Kilburn is certainly diverse in its residents, but no worse than more reputable suburbs. I own a home in Kilburn and have found the 'hoons' you speak of no more prevalent than in my previous homes in Goodwood and Stepney. There certainly are pockets, this is true, but your blanket dismissal of an affordable, diverse and friendly suburb is amusing. Review what you know, not rumours your 'mate' perpetuates.

I live in Kilburn but I don't hear a lot of hoons. The worst noise near me is the train, now the neighbours aren't fighting frequently like they were. When I first moved here about four years ago my place was vandalised (a broken window when I first moved here about four years ago, then raw eggs and dirt thrown) by a teenager up the road but that has stopped since he has matured (touch wood). I have heard there a lot of drug addicts and some drug dealers here, but the house was the most affordable closest to the city that I could get to buy. That's why I chose it, but there is a park up the road and shops and transport isn't far away if needed, so it could be worse. And the new Churchill Centre opening will make this area even more convenient. It's just a pity Coles Express doesn't sell LPG. Madness! And I don't like more McDonald's and KFC's opening up. We have enough junk food outlets as it is. How about more healthy options, especially vegetarian or vegan? I wasn't asked my opinion of what sort of shops I wanted nearby.

AnnaT1

I have never seen such ignorance like you, North.

AnnaT1

CherylW, can you please give me some information about Kilburn, because I am looking around that area to rent, as well as Clearview, ect. But I found one at Kilburn that was good. Can you give me a little bit of information about Kilburn, please? Much appreciated!

Hi AnnaT1. What street did you find a good house?
I don't recommend living near I am if you don't like the sound of noisy trains, but it's not as bad as constant traffic noise on a main road. The train station is a short walk up the road though and there are regular buses on Churchill Road. The buses run more frequently than the trains at night time.
The Churchill Centre is convenient as it is only a ten minute walk for me or five on my bicycle. I go through Jack Watkins Reserve, which is the park at the end of the road which is at the southern end of Railway Terrace and the end of Carroll Avenue. The park is good if you have dog(s) as there are two well fenced enclosures for dogs with watering facilities, seats and poo bags. The park also has a barbecue, gazebo for shelter nearby, gym equipment, taps, rubbish bins, toilets and trees. It is open from sunrise to sunset. I noticed the park is being overtaken by African men refugees who may intimidate you though. Luckily I was safe when I walked through a large group of them. One of them spoke to me but he may have just been trying to be friendly.
I keep to myself most of the time here as I have had trouble with inconsiderate neighbours, mainly due to noise and gardening issues. The noise from one neighbour has improved to what it had been as they don't have frequent domestics now. Fortunately the drug issue here hasn't affected me, except from the noise issue. Touchwood.
Kilburn is quite multicultural. I went to a couple of house auctions nearby and most of the people there were Indians, including the buyers. One of the new residents (not Indian) who was at an auction next door to him was trying to be friendly as he invited me and a few others to his place after the auction. Unfortunately I couldn't go though as I had other plans.
There is a BP service station with a Subway inside and the Albion Hotel and bottle shop across the road from there, within walking distance from me. I like the Albion Hotel but the meals aren't as cheap as the Empire or Challa Gardens Hotels. There is a sex shop not far from there (I haven't been in there) and lawnmower service and sale shop. I went to the lawnmower shop a few years ago to get my whipper snipper serviced but won't go back there as the man who has the shop was very rude to me.
I hope you get the house you want to live in AnnaT1. Kilburn is not the best area but it has its benefits and certainly could be much worse.

Why did you give me all this information??? This is totally irrelevant of what I was trying to say. Sorry, but I don't need this. Don't try and make me buy a house here because you live here. I hate people like you who are trying to give people the best advice when it's not even true! Keep facts to yourself!

I don't understand your comment AnnaT2. AnnaT1 (is this you too?) asked me for this information so I gave it to her, and it IS true! I am not trying to make you buy a house here at all. There is something wrong with you, going by your rude attitude.

Walkerville

"Walkerville - Your Town."

Walkerville is Home to Linear Park, one of the best riding tracks in Adelaide. Walkerville have incredible houses on every street.

Walkerville is only 8 minutes to the CBD (10 minutes in current traffic)

Walkerville has some lovely parks, which have been well kept and neighbours look after it.

Of course, the neighbours in Walkerville are super friendly, they will say hello to you when you stroll in the street or River Torrens. They will also look after one another. Also, they will look after there houses incredibly well.

The construction of the Walkerville Shopping Centre is looking good. They still need to finish it, but they just need to fix those bits and peices.

The streets in Walkerville are absolutely huge. So visitors will be quite surprised when they see these big streets in Walkerville.

Also, the Internet Access is excellent, it runs really fast.

So if you want a safe and quiet lifestyle, then Walkerville is the place.

Beaumont

"Beaumont. Home to one of Adelaide's Best Hill Views!"

Beaumont is home to its breathtaking views looking over Adelaide.

There is a lovely gym near Beaumont (just 2 minutes)

There are lovely parks and recreations in the area. For the people who ride cycling, you have got the choices of Chambers Gully Park (Greenhill Road, Greenhill) Cleland Conservation Park (Mount Lofty Summit Road, Cleland) and among others.

Its not to far from the CBD. It will probably be about 20 minutes, which is not far at all.

Public Transport is fantastic with buses running regualy into the CBD.

So Beaumont is probably the best place for you and your family to grow up in! You will LOVE the views!!

College Park

"College Park, Only a 5-10 minutes drive to the CBD!"

College Park is situated only minutes to the CBD. College Park is a small suburb, but it really lives up to its name.

There is 2 nice parks in College Park (Torrens Street, College Park) and one called Saint Peters River Park (Goss Court, College Park) and the River Torrens (entry from Torrens Street, College Park) which is excellent for catching up with families and friends, having a BBQ, and riding your bikes (kids to!)

The neighbours are very friendly, they would be proud to say hello with a nice smile on their faces.

Shopping is very, very easy with only 5 minutes (10 minutes with current traffic) to get into the CBD. With other shopping options, you have got Firle Shopping Centre, Tea Tree Plaza, and other amenities.

Parking is excellent, so it's great when families and friends come visiting.

So College Park is one area to look out for, if you can afford the price tag.

Toorak Gardens

"Toorak Gardens. Intelligent, Excellence, and Streets!"

Toorak Gardens is located in the eastern suburbs only 15 minutes to the city. There are huge streets in Toorak Gardens, making it easy for families and friends visiting. There are some very beautifully presented houses, parks, neighbours houses, and much more. Toorak Gardens is one of the most safest areas in Adelaide. So I definitely gave it 5 stars for Safe & Sound.

It is so Peace & Quiet here, you only hear birds chirping! Neighbours are excellent, they will actually say 'hello' to you when you walk past them while walking in the parks or streets. So it is very neighborly here. There is easy access into the city with only 15 minutes (by car) and 20 minutes (by bus) to get into the CBD.

So move to Toorak Gardens and fall in love! Without no doubt will you be disappointed with the beautiful Toorak Gardens!
