Wood Street

"Country Atmosphere in the Suburbs"

This immediate pocket of Ringwood East has a brilliantly convenient lifestyle for families, with parks nearby as well as Tintern Grammar, Tinternvale and Eastwood Primary schools.
A bus runs along nearby Dublin and Bedford Roads, taking you to Ringwood East station and shops, while Eastland and EastLink are easily accessed too.

Oleanda Crescent

"Pleasant tree-lined street"

Situated in the middle of everything a family could want or need, it is no surprise that Oleanda Crescent is popular with said demographic. Mt Pleasant Primary School is a very short walk and Charles Rooks Reserve is two blocks away.
Buses run along Rooks Road which, like the reserve, is a couple a blocks - an easy walk - and it will take you to Forest Hill in minutes or Mitcham train station and shops.

Creek Road

"On the Up!"

Running parallel with Mitcham Road, just south of Whitehorse Road, Creek Road is a busy street with a mixture of units, flats and houses, predominantly 1950s weatherboards. There has been an increase in houses being renovated, some even being knocked down to make way for new ones and new plain trees have recently been planted along the nature strips which will form a beautiful, leafy canopy in years to come. Because of its close proximity to Mitcham train station and Whitehorse Road shops, traffic can be relatively heavy at times but on the upside, its location is well serviced by public transport and shops/food outlets.

Bottle Bend

"Perfect For Couples Starting Out or Retirees!"

Bottle Bend is located in the leafy Forest Gardens Estate, a development 8 years young of 1 and 2 storey townhouses. With parkland and BBQ areas for residents to enjoy, the estate is adjacent to Forest Hill Chase and central to all other main services, yet enjoys privacy and quiet inside its gates. Perfect for singles, a young couple starting out or retirees, a body corporate looks after the gardens and facilities. Bottle Bend is a small dead-end street within the complex with little traffic noise. The Estate's christmas party which takes place at one of the BBQ areas each year is famous!

Rosslyn Street

"Making Way for Change!"

Rosslyn Street has seen much change over the past 10 years. Many of its 50s weatherboard houses have been renovated or knocked down to make way for larger, more modern homes. One house recently sold for more than $1M. There is a great community atmosphere amongst the residents, both old and new, and children are often seen playing in their front gardens or riding bikes down the street. Close to numerous schools, parkland and walking tracks, public transport and Blackburn South Shopping Village, nothing is far away. Bellbird Private Hospital is even located at the end of the street!

Vermont South

"A Well-Established, Family Friendly Neighbourhood"

Vermont South was established in the early 1970s and stands where a large fruit orchard once did. Houses are sizeable and predominantly brick veneer. Most are on 1/4 acre blocks. Very popular with young families, particularly in the late 70s and 80s, the local Livingstone Primary School swelled to almost 700 pupils in its hey day. Many original owners (mostly empty nesters now) still reside here, however, a wave of young families is slowly sweeping across the suburb, bringing with it a new generation of kids and renovation ideas!

Vermont South is a fantastic location in which to bring up a family. Serviced by numerous community facilities, including a library, community house and sports stadium, the suburb also has a small shopping centre to cater for your needs. Public transport isn't brilliant although it has been vastly improved with the extension of the Burwood Hwy Tram which runs directly to Melbourne's CBD.

Mitcham

"Perfect Place for Raising the Family"

Approximately 7 square kilometers in size, Mitcham is a perfectly located suburb of Melbourne. With a train line linking Mitcham to the heart of the city, and highways providing easy access to tourism sites such as the Dandenong Ranges National Park and its Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, the superb wineries of the Yarra Valley and the amazing Healesville Sanctuary, Mitcham is an excellent location in which to live.

Mitcham is also located at the beginning of the new Eastlink tollway which runs 39km from Mitcham to Frankston, linking the eastern suburbs to the south-eastern Melbourne suburbs.

With almost 8% of its total area covered in parkland (29 parks in all), the name Mitcham was derived from a place near Croydon in Surrey, England.

When Mitcham’s first school, a private school for 27 students became insufficient, a State school was established and opened in August 1888. The school was originally located right next to the corner of Whitehorse Rd, where Mitcham’s Coles supermarket now stands. It moved to its current location in May 1930. Today, Mitcham is home to 4 schools and 4 childcare centers, as well as numerous shops, cafes and restaurants, which service its ever growing population.

Homes in the area were predominantly built in the 1950s and 60s, with a mixture of weatherboards and brick veneers lining the mostly tree-lined streets, however some houses date back to as early as last century. As the demand for Mitcham has grown, so too have the house prices and as a result many renovations have been taking place as the area continues to increase in value.

Coltain Street

"A Little Tired But Quality Still Strong"

Developed in the early 1970s, Coltain Street now stands where an old fruit orchard once did. Popular with young families in the 70s and 80s particularly, the street is made up of sizeable, quality brick veneer homes, mostly on 1/4 acre blocks. Some front gardens have become a little tired looking and the odd house is in need of a 'freshen up' but all in all Coltain Street remains a quality street in a quality suburb! A mixture of original residents (mostly empty nesters now) and new young families live in the street. Traffic noise is minimal. Closely located to a vast number of community facilities including the Vermont South library, community house and sport stadium as well as Livingstone Primary School, the street is also within walking distance to Vermont South Shopping Centre. Access to public transport has also recently improved with the extension of the Burwood Hwy Tram which runs directly into Melbourne's CBD.

"Tree lined street - walk to the shops!"

This lovely tree-lined street has a small shopping strip and buses around the corner. The street is full of character weatherboards, attracting many renovators and first home buyers while still retaining long-term residents thanks to the convenient position and quiet atmosphere. Mitcham train station and shopping centre is a short drive up Mitcham Rd, possibly 2kms walk.

Donvale

"The Best Of Both Worlds"

Donvale is part 'leafy suburban' part 'bush retreat' depending on which section you looking at. Bordering Doncaster East, Mitcham, Warrandyte and Ringwood you get the picture. Public transport is accessed via Springvale Rd - one of Melbourne's most valuable arterials - the ambling Park Rd - a central road for this suburb - and Glenvale Rd - the road that leads directly to Ringwood. The blocks vary from your typical suburban blocks to large acres bordered by untouched bushland. Best of all is the proximity to shopping and services at Tunstall Square and Eastland as well as the existence of a quality school, Whitefriars Catholic College, right in the middle! So, you see, it is possible to have a leafy landscape AND all the modern services just minutes from all that you need.
The landscape is beautiful and the position perfect... for more information on this suburb or to view properties for sale in the area see www.philipwebb.com.au

Doncaster East

"A City For All Seasons"

Doncaster East has it all. A cosmopolitan dining and shopping precinct, quality schools, retirement villages and options, Eastern Freeway access and family-friendly streets. Tunstall Square immediately comes to mind when thinking about dinner plans, a special gift for a friend or a new look. The Milgate Park Estate, off Anderson's Creek Rd, is a particular area that is favoured for its many parks and proximity to Milgate Primary School and Our Lady of the Pines Primary School. Bordering Donvale, Doncaster East is well serviced by buses leaving from most main roads and busy streets - they'll take you to the nearby shopping mecca, Westfield Doncaster, schools and industry hubs at the afore mentioned shopping districts.

Lookover Road

"5 mins from shopping - miles from the hustle n bustle!"

Lookover Rd is one of those rare gems that is a short drive from the things you love and need - shopping, schools and public transport - but miles from the noise and busy traffic lanes. Ringwood's shopping hub is a short drive, as is the train station, but a bus leave from the end of Lookover Rd along Glenvale Rd will also take you to local schools and services. The blocks in Lookover Rd are all huge and often comprise of large homes, tennis courts and swimming pools. The noise is nil - well apart from the native birdlife that is... and don't look too surprised when a friendly mob of kangaroos or wallabies hops by for a visit!

Ringwood

"East Of Eden"

Ringwood is an anomoly really. A shopping destination well-serviced by trains, buses and roads, yet so close to peaceful leafy parks and reserves. Take Ringwood Lake for example. It is an idyllic picnic spot favoured by parents with young children yet it is just a short walk from Eastland and Ringwood train station. Then you have Mullum Mullum creek walk, the Loughnan's Hill precinct and Jubilee Park sporting reserve. That's the other 'best bit' of Ringwood. The sport! From football and cricket to Pony Club, Ringwood has the lot! The schools are some of Melbourne's finest and industry has its home here too - think Cadbury Schweppes and Seymour Street. Real estate in Ringwood is varied. From modern high-density living in New St and Bond St to large leafy blocks in Ringwood North and East. Families young and old favour Ringwood for its family atmosphere and proximity to the other suburbs thanks to EastLink.

Fantastic review! How has the real estate market been holding up in Ringwood? It does sound like a relaxing place to live, not so far from the city anymore with the Eastlink extension to the city.

Thank you. Yes Ringwood has been identified by the State government as a transit city in Melbourne. And there are more exciting plans for Ringwood including an overhaul of the Eastland shopping centre block - think fine al fresco dining, a beautiful spot to meet friends and a charming walkway from the train station to Eastland...
As for the real estate market, a quick whip around of the agents in the Ringwood office revealed excitement and optimism about the current market. Some may look at a glass half empty, but our agents see the possibilities for vendors and buyers in any market including this one. Montanus Court

"Pride In The Neighbourhood - Views To Boot"

On the high side of Montanus Crt - a leafy cul-de-sac just off Wonga Rd - you are treated to distant views of surrounding Melbourne. At least one property attests to being able to see planes landing at the airport on a clear night. But more importantly this slip of spacious and thoughtfully designed homes are castles. Each is kept in beautiful shape creating a picturesque landscape for passers-by. Residents here talk to one another and value the idealogy of neighbours as good friends. Kalinda Modified Urban Forest is a beautiful park close by and there are numerous schools - Kalinda PS, Holy Spirit Cath PS, Yarra Valley Grammar to name a few - within easy reach. We suggest families young and old keep their eye on this area if they're looking for a beautiful home with space to breath!
