Queenstown

"I felt like I had stepped back in time 40 years"

I recently went to Queenstown to look at a property and stayed for a few days. (I'm from Sydney) - I found the locals were friendly, the Empire Hotel was the nicest place to be and eat at, great atmosphere, very cosy, drinks were put on a tab on first visit (very trusting). I felt very safe as police are aware of everyone in the area (stopped one of our group and said "I havent seen your face around here before" and had a friendly chat. Locals stop and have a chat (introduce themselves), loved the community the most - great to go back in time where neighbourhoods were a safe place to walk around in. Very happy, helpful people . Rained almost every day but had one beautiful sunny day where I walked around with a T-shirt which is pretty good for almost winter time.

Hi there
Did you ended up buying the property? Heard they are only locals. Not for outsiders.

My husband and I are planning to move from Brisbane to Queenstown in 2020 for an early semi retirement. I am a qualified dressmaker/ patternmaker and also do upholstry and canvas work. I would like to set up a small home based sewing all round sewing service and would like to know if I could make a reasonable living in this area. Can anyone advise me if there is a need for my services?
