Goodna

"Could be great, but housing commission ruins it"

Too many really poorly behaved housing commission tenants with no respect for anyone around them. Basic terms of living in a public housing home are not being enforced by the service. Because of this there is a lot of negative and aggressive behaviour in parts of Goodna, many houses with grafitti, broken windows, covered in trash, and constantly noisy with profanity. These parts shift when tenants change.
The suburb could be great, it's quiet when people are not fighting or hooning, fast internet, everything is convenient with multiple shopping and highway options, and some great wildlife near the bush areas.
Can't be recommended to live here until the housing commission lifts their game and holds their tenants responsible for their actions instead of handing them more free stuff and services when they trash government property and make tax payers struggle to make it to work by partying until 5am every night. People like that don't deserve taxpayer help. I have lived here for 8 years, I regret buying a house here most days.

I think those houses with those problems you have pointed out would be private rental properties as broken windows for one is a duty of care and would be repaired in 24 hours and as for graffiti that is an offence and is usually done by vandals and is punishable by law and also repaired in 24 hours and if the perpetrators are court they would have to pay for restoration. And also any malicious damage done by the tenants is also charged back to them. I understand you would be upset by noisy neighbours report that to the police or Ipswich city council report the damage you see to the property to Queensland housing if you dont report it they dont know.

I can 100% confirm that the houses I mentioned in my original post are owned by housing commission, and Goodna Street Life. It's nice to think that the rules are being followed, but after years of dealing with these services I can confidently say they have no care in the world to ensure their tenants follow the behavioral guidelines they are supposed to follow. When I ring to make a complaint, I am always told the same thing "We will call the tenant and hear their side of the story", then nothing happens. Even with video evidence of property damage and vandalism, a police report regarding assault (spat in the face when knocked on their door asking them to stop their kids throwing projectiles at my wife's car), many police attendances at the property due to child abuse, theft (stolen car stashed in their back yard), constant noise complaints from multiple sources, fist fights weekly in the middle of the street (police and video evidence to confirm this), and recordings of _hours_ long abuse I recorded from my kitchen table, which I could do most days. Housing commission just do not act on anything even with this evidence. They need to lift their game and start being accountable for the damage they do placing families like this near working families. The mental health impact of living next to this toxicity is very steep. Imagine you have to be on guard and feel like you have to defend yourself in your own home whenever you hear a noise. Live like that for years and tell me the rules work.
