"Very small and almost forgotten suburb"
Clyde is a suburb located next to Granville, just before Auburn. It is about a thirty to forty minutes' drive to Sydney City. Clyde is a strange suburb as nobody would ever say they live in Clyde, they would instead say that they live in Granville or Auburn. Clyde has it's own train station but the trains are very unreliable and infrequent. However, it is only a short walk to Granville Station fro Clyde, so many locals catch the train from Granville Station instead.
Clyde is next to the car yards and industrial areas along Parramatta Road and everybody on the Carlingford train line has to use Clyde station to change trains. Also, Australia Post has a distribution centre in Clyde and you will often see many Australia Post trucks driving through this area.
"Suburb in the south of Sydney"
Miranda is a suburb in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. It has a really huge Westfield shopping mall, which is really great for shopping for fashion and eating out. The mall itself is really well maintained and I just prefer it to other Westfield in Sydney as it looks like it actually has enough space to fit all the shops in it. It is on a huge block of land and everything is not miles apart! The service is good here because everybody is really nice in the Shire area. You will always get a nice smile when you order a juice or ice cream from the ice cream stalls.
"Small little town"
Appin is a small little town located south of Campbelltown. I always drive past this town on my way to the South Coast of New South Wales. There are always a lot of nice tall trees along the road going into the town which makes it a great drive before you hit the shops. The shops here seem to be struggling with only really the pie shop doing well. There is a dance wear shop, but you would tend to think who in their right mind would open a dance wear shop in such a small town. There is also a motel on the main street with a Chinese restaurant in it but it does not look like it is ever open as there is always a thick layer of dust on its windows.
"Nice little town"
Picton is a nice little town on the south western edges of Sydney. I drive past it a lot whenever I head down to Wollongong or the South Coast since I take the Campbelltown way to head down. I love stopping by the pubs and cafes in town and grabbing a pie as the town is really quaint and welcoming. There are a lot of signs in the area about the sky diving trips available and you always see a few young Sydney siders in town all excited about sky diving or returning from their sky diving adventures with smiles on their faces. Often, the sight of this makes me want to go sky diving, but I am pretty happy just eating my meat pie or having a beer in this beautiful town.
"Quiet and tranquil"
Bobbin Head is a quiet little bay area up the Central Coast of Sydney but not really all that far away. There is a really nice picnic area with shaded benches and tables and a quiet stretch of water that is really good for fishing, kayaking or boating. There are never any waves and not many people around. Hence, it is a great place to get away from the crowds especially on a beautiful sunny day. The barbeque facilities there means you can cook some food with the family. Just beware that there is quite a descent to the actual Bobbin Head area and some people will have experience "popping" ears due to the change in pressure.
"Local feel on the Central Coast"
Tuncurry is across the bridge from its more popular neighbour Forster. It has it’s own stretch of fishing shops and supermarket and is less crowded along the banks of the river if you are looking for a quiet fishing spot. The fishermen moor their boats on the Tuncurry side, with the fish coop also open to the public. There is a beach at Tuncurry and is far less crowded than Forster is. Tuncurry also sports a swimming pool if you prefer chlorine over the salt water. Everything on the Tuncurry side just seems more local and the prices of food reflect it.
"Popular beach town"
Forster is a very popular beach town on the Central Coast of New South Wales. There are two main beaches in this area - Forster beach and Five Mile Beach. The busiest time for Forster is during the summer periods where many Sydney siders come up to spend Christmas or New Years vacationing. The beach and excellent fishing make it very attractive. The area has all the usual beach town facilities like pub, boat hire, fishing shops, surf shops and restaurants. You will find more fish and chips and cheap Chinese restaurants than hatted restaurants as most people who come here are very laid back.
the central coast is actually a good 3 hours drive south of Forster - once again if you dont hit traffic which is very unlikely.
"Convenient and nice suburb"
Seven Hills lies in Western Sydney and is a commercial centre with a lot of industrial and commercial developments. It is about a forty minutes' drive to Sydney City and it has it’s own shopping centre called Centro. Seven Hills has a good train station with many trains passing through per hour, hence making the commute to work really easy if you work in the city. A lot of people in Seven Hills own the houses that they live in so the houses are very presentable. Since it is not exactly new development, you still see a lot of fibro houses in the area, but many are being redeveloped into townhouses or apartment blocks.
"Nice suburb but far from the city"
Bella Vista lies in North Western Sydney close to Baulkham Hills. It is a very new suburb and has a lot of new houses. The suburb itself is a complex maze of streets and houses, where most of the houses actually look the same so if your street directory is not updated and you do not have a global positioning system, you are actually highly likely to get lost in there. It is very close to the likes of Norwest so living here would have it’s advantages if you work there or worship there. Having to drive or commute to the city everyday means you better get used to waking up at 6am.
"Nice beautiful place"
Dover Heights is north of Bondi and just south of Vaucluse. It hugs the close line and contains one of the best parks in Sydney called Dudley Page Reserve. All it is is just a large park but has the best view in Sydney and the city's skyline. A lot of tourist buses stop there, probably to the annoyance of the residents who want the place to themselves. Since Dover is away from New South Head Road, it enjoys quieter streets than it’s neighbouring suburbs like Rose Bay or Double Bay, hence making it more comfortable for those who like it less congested.
"Beautiful suburb in Sydney"
Rose Bay’s location reflects its name with beautiful water access and views of the city. With that come two of the most prestigious private girls schools in the area - Kincoppal and Kambala. These schools are located along New South Head Road. Driving up the road, the private schools look like castles and have the best facilities for the local area. New South Head Road itself is rather windy and takes getting used to when driving. This is especially when every second that you drive along the road, you want to turn your head and admire Sydney’s best views. The golf courses in Rose Bay allow the rich to pass away their time in class.
"Normal suburb in Western Sydney"
I once had to drive out to Dharruk to play in a big poker game in the area. Dharruk is located in the Western Suburbs of Sydney and is about a forty to fifty minutes' drive to the city. It is a very peaceful suburb with the houses all having nice lawns. Despite it being close to a few other suburbs that have bad image problems like Bidwill or Shelvey, I basically saw nothing of the sort except for very cheap looking properties on big plots of land. The RSL I was playing at was very well renovated and look totally new. There were plenty of big screens and looks like a great place to meet the locals and enjoy a nice one whilst watching the footy.
"Most expensive place to live in Sydney"
Welcome to one of the highest income suburbs in all of Australia. Yes it is definitely beautiful here. All you have to do is follow New South Head Road up to where the light house is and make any left to turn down into the streets or look left and there you have it, the best view in all of Sydney. The lighthouse itself is beautiful as it looks out towards the sea and you can just sit on one of the benches all day and read a book while soaking in the views from both the front and the back. You do not have to live in Vaucluse to fully appreciate the place so even a drive through Vaucluse lets you know what you can really do if you are a multi millionaire.
"Famous for its Apples"
Everybody in Sydney knows Bilpin for its apples. It is to the west of Windsor and during the right season, you can go there and pick fresh apples of the trees which can be purchased. There is nothing fresher than picking your own apples off the tree and it really beats buying them from over priced supermarkets. I saw a few people eating the apples whilst picking and they do taste sweeter when freshly picked. The roads leading into the Bilpin are beautiful and the road that leaves Bilpin heads towards Mt Tomah. A trip to Bilpin during Spring means all the flowers are out to accompany the beautiful apples.
"Nice inner-west suburb"
Concord is located in the inner-west of Sydney has one of Sydney’s major hospitals. It is about a thirty minutes' drive from the city. House prices here are slightly above Sydney's median price because of its location.
Concord has plenty of buses from Strathfield station and is close enough to Rhodes to take advantage of Ikea and the shops there. Concord also happens to lie close to the bay areas of the Parramatta river so again, the house prices reflect this. The Majors Bay Road area has some really nice cafes and restaurants which provide plenty of colour for dining options and on the weekend
"Mix of commercial and residential"
Northmead lies just north of Parramatta and is also next to Westmead. It has some industrial areas with the Coca Cola Amatil head quarters and several bus depots in the area. Given that, the part of Northmead that lies past Windsor Rd is all residential and does not have much development. It looks more like your typical western suburb housing but property prices are not as high as those in North Rocks or Baulkham Hills. Northmead is also very close to James Ruse Drive so a few quick turns will have you on the M4 to the city or right in Parramatta for easy shopping. Pancakes on the Rocks has also opened a branch here in Northmead.
"Typical suburb with nice houses"
North Rocks lies north of Northmead just before Baulkham Hills along Windsor Road and is about a thirty to forty minutes' drive to the city. Being at the southern tip of the North Western belt of Sydney, it does not have the same transport problems as the other suburbs with buses running along Windsor Rd to take you into Parramatta. The area has gyms and nice houses that have character rather than looking like McMansions. There are plenty of fast food options and entertainment at the local bowling club. North Rocks is also pretty hilly, so some of the houses actually have a view down into the valley. The nearest mall will be Parramatta Westfield.
"Nice inner-west suburb"
Five Dock is a suburb in Inner Western Sydney that lies along Parramatta Rd. It is pretty close to the city and takes only twenty minutes by car to get there. Locals here are spoilt for choice when it comes to amenities such as an excellent gym, golf course, indoor cricket, lazer skirmish and boxing gym. If you like your sports and exercise, Five Dock would have to be the place to live. Being right along Parramatta Rd, you are living on one of the busiest roads on the planet so getting in and out of the area during peak hour is a very tough ride. The local rumour is that many residents go to Burwood train station to catch the train to the city. Many have to park somewhere in Burwood before they catch the train.
"Home of the Sharks"
Cronullla is on the tip of the Sutherland Shire and has its own beach and is a good forty minutes' drive to the city. Rocked by previous once off race riots, the suburb still retains much of its old culture where many spirited locals will swear by Cronulla and live and die here than live anywhere else in Sydney. The beach itself is nice, but nowhere near as nice as Coogee or Bondi. There are a few pubs and clubs along the main strip so a Saturday night has plenty of options and choices for entertainment. There also are a lot of sporting fields in Cronulla so all the rugby league enthusiasts have excellent facilities in the area.
"Very popular because of Girraween High School"
Girraween is a suburb that is very popular with migrant families who are keen to send their children to the famous selective high school - Girraween High School. Many students travel far and wide just to attend this high school. At the same time, the local primary school matches its local high school and has a band to ensure the kids in the area have plenty of opportunities to further their interests. The scenery here is very much Western Sydney residential suburbia with many houses on good sized plots of land. All the roads are very new and there is not much development here. Given that you will notice much more blue sky on a sunny day rather than have it obscured by apartment blocks. The closest mall is Parramatta Westfield.
Tuncurry is not on the Central Coast
