If I was looking to buy a shack in Scamander Tasmania, what does this town have to offer families?

Hi Tameka! If you have a family you'll love Scamander - we live here with our family (10 & 12 years old) and we love it!
We always start the day with a coffee at one of the coffee huts at either end of Scamander, then take a quick stroll on the beach before we head off to school and work - the cool sand at the beginning of the day is amazing. There's generally always good surf either straight off the beach at Scamander or just north at Shelley Beach.
If you like fishing there's good spots off Scamander bridge and also the jetties at the river mouth, plus beach fishing will usually snag you a black back salmon or maybe a gummy shark! The sports complex has golf, bowls, tennis court and cricket pitch. At the river mouth there's a new playground for the kids as well as a skate park - so make sure you pack at least a scooter!
Just north of Scamander is St Helens where you'll find the mountain bike network for hours and hours (actually days) of riding for all ability levels. There are plenty of forest and river walks, nature reserves, beaches, back roads and rock pools to explore from Scamander right through to St Helen the Bay of Fires and Blue Tier. If you love the outdoors there is plenty on offer.
When the fun stuff has to come to an end, there are district schools (kinder to year 12) in both St Helens and St Marys with school buses servicing both schools from Scamander. There is also a district hospital in both towns. Employment wise, there is abundant employment especially in hospitality, tourism and maintenance/cleaning. Maybe not so much work in professional areas, but good job opportunities if you're willing to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.
Scamander is a really popular beachside town that is the best of both worlds - you get to live beachside as well as have good work and schooling options on your doorstep.
