Schools and activities

What are the enrolment numbers at the closest schools and reputations? Are there a lot of outside school activities for primary age kids? Soccer? Tennis? Karate?

Hi Lisan14!

St Helens District High School and St Marys District High School are both approx 15 minutes either side of St Helens and both have an enrollment between 550 & 650 students. Both schools cater from kindergarten to year 12 with adult trade training centres also available at both sites. St Marys has more agriculture and drama included in their curriculum, whilst St Helens has more outdoor education and music. Probably 50% + students choose to complete years 11 & 12 in Launceston.

The schools both have an excellent reputation for being welcoming, all inclusive and progressive. Of course they are not private schools and due to the smaller numbers there may not be as many options available as larger or more financial schools - but the teachers are caring and focused on the well being of their students.

Outside of school there are several sports options available including cricket, netball, football, karate, soccer, scouts, cubs, sea scouts, bowls, naval cadets and youth group. There is a local tennis club, however there are no set tournaments, it's social tennis and you hire the courts as you wish.

I do hope this helps and I'd be very happy to answer any further questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to keep in touch.
